Reconciling Responsiveness with Performance in Pure Object-Oriented Languages
نویسنده
چکیده
Dynamically-dispatched calls often limit the performance of object-oriented programs since object-oriented programming encourages factoring code into small, reusable units, thereby increasing the frequency of these expensive operations. Frequent calls not only slow down execution with the dispatch overhead per se, but more importantly they hinder optimization by limiting the range and effectiveness of standard global optimizations. In particular, dynamicallydispatched calls prevent standard interprocedural optimizations that depend on the availability of a static call graph.

Modeling and Evaluation of Stochastic Discrete-Event Systems with RayLang Formalism
In recent years, formal methods have been used as an important tool for performance evaluation and verification of a wide range of systems. In the view points of engineers and practitioners, however, there are still some major difficulties in using formal methods. In this paper, we introduce a new formal modeling language to fill the gaps between object-oriented programming languages (OOPLs) us...

متن کاملThe Object Behavior of Java Object-Oriented Database Management Systems
Due to its portability and popularity for Internet applications, Java has become one of the major programming languages. The similar syntax inherited from the C language and the pure object orientated features, compared to the non-pure object-oriented C++ language, have caused Java to be a good candidate as a tool in designing object oriented systems, especially in database servers. However, th...
متن کاملA Language for Object-Oriented Parallel Programming Targeted at Cluster Computing Platforms
In object-oriented (OO) languages, the ability to encapsulate software concerns of the dominant decomposition in objects is the key to reaching high modularity and loss of complexity in large scale designs. However, distributed memory parallelism tends to break modularity and encapsulation of concerns in OO languages, since a parallel computation cannot be encapsulated in an individual object. ...
متن کاملQuality Measurement of Software By Using Coupling Metrics
Software Modularization includes the concept of procedural, object based and objects oriented languages. The metrics presented and evaluated in this paper are both ‘pure’ object–oriented metrics (Metrics for pure object oriented programming) and metrics proposed for object–oriented programming (Object-based programming). Concept of software modularization is divided in three components i) Use o...
